What the Constitution Means to Me Tickets

If you have grown accustomed to your traditional plays and musicals on the Great White Way and you are yearning for something a little more outside of the Broadway box, look no further than Heidi Schreck's What the Constitution Means to Me which has climbed the theatrical mountain to officially open at The Hayes Theater on March 31, 2019, following previews from March 14 and playing a limited extended engagement through August 24, 2019.

Described by our critic, Tulis McCall as an "electric presentation" and an "excellent and passionate argument in favor of the Constitution" during its off-Broadway premiere, Heidi Schreck's piece first enlightened theatregoers at Clubbed Thumb's 2017 Summerworks festival. The production was then commissioned to be a part of New York Theatre Workshop's 2018-2019 season, staging its twice-extended off-Broadway premiere from September 12 through to November 4, 2018. The public and critical reaction to the piece was so inspiring that it warranted an additional 5-week extension, moving to a new off-Broadway home at the Greenwich Theater from November 27 through to December 30, 2018. And thanks to producers Diana DiMenna, Aaron Glick, and Matt Ross, the Clubbed Thumb, True Love & New York Theatre Workshop production of What the Constitution Means to Me will now reach an even wider audience with the Broadway transfer.

Under the direction of Oliver Butler, Heidi Schreck takes us on a deeply personal journey to her 15-year-old self, who remarkably gave talks on the constitution and utilised the money to put herself through college. Filled with anecdotes of growing up in the Midwest and paying particular attention to the treatment of women, beginning with her great-great-grandmother, Schreck employs a skilled and deceptively simplistic manner to guide us through the murky waters of today's society's relationship to the constitution and future society's possible amendments. From citizenship to birth control, Schreck leaves no stone unturned and she is assisted on stage by Mike Iveson as a contest moderator with a high school student. The latter role is shared by real-life high school pupils Rosdely Ciprian and Thursday Williams and all performers are making their Broadway debuts with the production.
