Get Grandiloquent tickets and see the newest comedy show from Gary Gulman. Grandiloquent plays off Broadway for five weeks only at the Lucille Lortel Theatre downtown. A hilarious look at vulnerability, empathy, and self-confidence, this solo performance highlights the insecure side of comedy and the artists who make it. Grandiloquent tickets are available on New York Theatre Guide now.
Experience Grandiloquent off Broadway in a world premiere staged by Tony nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand To God), a Broadway director known for his comedic shows on Broadway (I Need That) and off (The Thanksgiving Play). Diving into Gulman’s past, the show explores how a thoughtful boy learned to use the arts — particularly humor, reading, and writing — to cope with the consequences of his parents’ mistakes. Learn why a seemingly confident middle-aged man feels most comfortable in a large room where a thousand strangers are laughing at him.
"Grandiloquent is the show I got into comedy to do,” said Gulman in a statement. “It’s the culmination of 48 years of my reading and writing and performing. I am so grateful to be able to bring it to the venerable Lucille Lortel Theatre, where I’ve seen so much extraordinary work."
Gulman was a finalist on the NBC reality-talent show Last Comic Standing in its second and third seasons. He is also one of only a handful of comedians to appear on every major late-night television comedy program, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Conan, and more.
While his new show may feature some strong language, it is appropriate for all ages. Grandiloquent also has stars behind the scenes: it will also feature scenic design by Tony winner Beowulf Boritt, lighting design by Adam Honoré, and sound design by UptownWorks.
