With an acting, directing, and writing career spanning more than 60 years, Pendleton's notable credits are almost too many to name. In his theatre career, he earned two Drama Desk Awards — one competitive award for performing in The Last Sweet Days of Isaac, and one special award for being "a Renaissance man of the American theatre" — and a Tony Award nomination for directing The Little Foxes in 1981. Pendleton's Broadway credits from the 2010s and 2020s include directing Between Riverside and Crazy and acting in The Minutes and Choir Boy.
Select film credits include Catch-22; What's Up, Doc?; My Cousin Vinny; and A Beautiful Mind, for which he earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination.
