About Stage 42

Formerly known as the Little Shubert Theatre, Stage 42 is one of the largest Off-Broadway theatres in New York City with a capacity of 499 seats.

Designed by architect Hugh Hardy in 2002, the theatre was the Shubert Organization's first Off-Broadway venue. In fact, it was the first new theatre the Shuberts built since Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre in 1928. Stage 42 is part of a new residential tower on 42nd Street.
