Formerly known as the Little Shubert Theatre, Stage 42 is one of the largest Off-Broadway theatres in New York City with a capacity of 499 seats.
Designed by architect Hugh Hardy in 2002, the theatre was the Shubert Organization's first Off-Broadway venue. In fact, it was the first new theatre the Shuberts built since Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre in 1928. Stage 42 is part of a new residential tower on 42nd Street.
Stage 42 is closest to the 42nd St. - Port Authority subway stop on the A, C, and E lines. The closest bus stop is 9 Av./W 42 St. on the M11 and M34A-SBS lines, and W 42 St./9 Av. M42.
